PRESTIGE EAGLE

BY Madeleine Van Der Knoop

The Prestige Eagle in crystal and patinated bronze, fixes its precious eyes on its prey. Made of yellow sapphires and onyx, they accentuate the piercing look of the majestic eagle, just like the brilliance of its gilded beak that enhances the beauty of the finely carved crystal.

TÊTE DE PANTHÈRE

by Patrick Villas

For his first collaboration with Daum, Patrick Villas realizes a proud and powerful panther’s head. Felines are a central theme of his work. The crystal worked with the lost-wax technique transcribes all the work of the material, and preserves the modeling traces specific to the work of Patrick Villas, giving birth to a very contemporary sculpture. The crystal plays with the light and brings a new emotional momentum to Patrick Villas’ work.

“In my work, I use shadows and natural lights to create a living interaction between the interlocutor and the work. I suggest the details and the shadows complete them. Throughout my career, I researched different materials and techniques: painting, sculpture, bronze, clay, ceramics and now crystal. I’ve know Daum since my youth, when I crossed the whole of France in search of antiquities and captivating objects, the vases and lamp shades by Daum particularly touched me. Having the opportunity to create especially for Daum Nancy is an honor.” Patrick Villas

Sara et les oiseaux

by Marie-Paule Deville-Chabrolle

The evident harmony of her feminine sculptures transposed in Daum crystal, invites Daum to continue the edition of exceptional works with this talented artist, such as an original work, like the Sara et les Oiseaux, holding two delicate birds in enamelled gold Haviland porcelain, or reinterpretations in new colours and sizes of existing sculptures. The purity and extraordinary colours of the crystal accentuate the grace and femininity of her delicate sculptures.

Hiver en soi

by Marie-Paule Deville-Chabrolle

Hiver en soi, an essential piece born from the collaboration between the Maison Daum and Marie-Paule Deville-Chabrolle, is revisited to offer a new sculpture in different variations of hues and size. An admirable serenity emanates from this sculpture and delicately leads us to our thoughts.

Dressed in a captivating draped dress, this sculpture is sublimated by the light that pierces through the “pâte de cristal” with amber and mauve shades. Serene and fragile, the Hiver en Soi breathes a soothing atmosphere into the interiors it occupies.

OISEAU MARIN

by Xavier Carnoy

For Daum, Xavier Carnoy has created the Sea Bird taking flight. The material, the intense blue of the crystal, and its transparency letting light filter through, reveal the harmony of this pure form.

SAND

by Christian Ghion

The Maison Daum launches new pieces in the Sand Collection in collaboration with the renowned designer Christian Ghion. This extraordinary collection was born from the designer’s desire to explore the organic an often-invisible worlds.

“Underwater ripples? Swallowing sand waves? Micro-cellular streams? Dancing twists of the plant kingdom? Natural sinuosities? These are some of the many questions that one will interpret. Without ever being figurative, these pieces are resolutely contemporary and inscribed in the DNA of Daum, and they offer a surprise for the world to see”. Christian Ghion

SAFRAN

Deriving from crocus sativus in latin, the saffron flower is one of the most valued flowers in the world, for its singular pistils that make precious spices. The saffron spice obtained is one of the most expensive in the world, earning its name “red gold”.

Cultivated since the fifth century BC in the Middle East, the saffron was renowned for its therapeutic qualities and was seen in abundance at the table of Achaemenid rulers. Today, it sublimates the finest dishes, tints the noblest ornaments, and adds light to the most sophisticated cosmetics.

150,000 to 300,000 flowers are harvested to obtain just 1 kilo of saffron. The pistils are handpicked, flower by flower, with a delicate gesture, just like the modeller who composes the bouquet and the carpet of saffron on the vases of this collection. An ode to a demanding and delicate nature, the Safran collection narrates the story of the blossoming of the flower in the sandy and sunny lands, and the harvesting of the pistils so fragile and yet so precious. Like the yellow-gold spice that colours the dishes, the Safran pieces are rich in warm colours, evolving from amber to red.
